I really enjoyed shopping for my new car at Kolar. I walked in completely unsure if I was even serious about buying anything, but they made everything so easy that I ended up with a much nicer vehicle than I was driving. What I really liked was that my salesman never rushed me or made me feel unimportant. I was having a hard time committing to anything and felt bad for taking up so much of his time, especially since I wasn't even sure if I would buy anything. He never got impatient or hurried me along, but rather kept saying that he wanted me to feel good about my choice and be happy with whatever I decided. The other thing I really appreciated (being a younger female) was that I was never looked down upon or not taken seriously. I've been to other dealers where I felt very much at a disadvantage and felt like they were taking advantage of me for not knowing everything there is to know about buying a car. I also went in thinking "there is no way I'll be able to afford a newer car" and was expecting to settle for something that was the same year, or older than my previous model. My salesman ran all the numbers for me right away and never once showed me something outside of my price range. I told him where I wanted to be with monthly payments and he worked with me to find a good fit. I spent several days researching before my appointment and did find a car I was interested in on another lot, but the folks at Kolar had been so welcoming and kind that I didn't want to look anywhere else because I felt like I wouldn't get treated the same way and would become discouraged. I'm so pleased with the way everything worked out that I can't wait until its time to shop for a new car again just so that I can go back and get the same great experience as this time!
Service was WONDERFUL!! Told him what we were looking for and he showed us a lot of trucks. As we checked them out he answered all of our questions and made it easy to choose. If I ever need to buy a new vehicle again, I will definitely go back to Kolar, It will be a while as I LOVE my truck.
Over the weekend my husband and I were traveling through Duluth when we had some car troubles. We stopped at Kolar to hopefully have the car serviced and then get on our way to our final destination. Unfortunately we were late enough in the day that all of the technicians had already left for the day. The service advisors recommended a shop close by that may have been able to repair our car yet that day, unfortunately, their technicians had also left for the day. We went back to Kolar to see about getting a rental car and having our car repaired the next day. Unfortunately, Kolar was out of rental cars as well, but the service advisor started making calls to rental car companies to get us a rental car so we could get on the road. While she was making those phone calls, a rental car was returned and Kolar quickly checked it in so that we could rent a car from them at half the rate we would have gotten a rental from elsewhere and we filled out the necessary paperwork and were on our way, having only lost about an hour. The next day Scott was fantastic about dealing with what I'm sure to him were our bothersome phone calls checking on the status of our car. We knew when we left on Thursday that the service schedule was packed on Friday, but Scott understood how important it was to us to at least get the problem diagnosed on Friday to ensure Kolar had or was able to get the part to repair our car. Our car was diagnosed late in the day on Friday and Kolar did not have the part, but Scott went out of his way to stop at another dealership on his way into work on Saturday morning to pick up the part so that our car could be repaired on Saturday morning and we would be able to stop and pick up our car on our way home Saturday. My husband is a GM technician and recognizes that this is a GM standard of service at GM dealerships, but not necessarily within the rest of the industry. We truly appreciated that Scott and the Kolar team went out of their way to help us.
I had an '09 Chevy Impala from another dealer and was in a collision and my car was totaled by another driver. I loved my car (make,model and color) and really had my heart set on the same thing. I drove by and spotted the same exact car only it was a '13 and was a lot nicer, but because of work am also so busy and thought I'd just correspond with someone by email. Well over the next couple of days, I went back and forth by email, filled out an app. online, gave my lic# and insurance info. (my choice to do so) by email and by the end of the week it was all set up for me to go and sign some papers and drive away in that car I wanted. I was treated with respect, my kids were treated great, and the salesman Brian Christansen was the nicest and most easy going person that I have ever dealt with when dealing with cars. And an added bonus, they even hooked me up with some really nice Kolar stuff. I never got anything from the previous dealer (also a big name local dealer)I even got a bad attitude from the other dealer. These guys and girls rock!!!
We brought in our Terrain for the 5,000 mile check up. The service department friendly, started on time, and finished ahead of schedule. They took the time to answer any questions regarding my new vehicle and suggested coming back if more questions came up.
I had a GREAT experience at Kolar. Friendly staff, great facility, and I LOVE my car. My only gripe is how long it took to get the whole process done. At our current level of tech, it shouldn't take 3 hours to work out financing options with multiple banks. This, however is a minor quibble, and one I will chalk up to "thoroughness". I would recommend Kolar to anyone looking to buy a car.
